Multilateral Climate Platform Officially Launched to Accelerate Nordic–Baltic-Turkish Technology Cooperation
The Nordic-Baltic Climate Technology Platform (NBCC) has been launched as a joint diplomatic initiative of the missions of Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden in Türkiye. The platform pools the resources, technical expertise and experience of five nations to accelerate the green transition in Türkiye on the road to COP31.
Five nations, one collaborative network
The Embassy of Denmark in Ankara, the Royal Danish Consulate General in Istanbul, the Embassy of Finland in Ankara, the Embassy of Lithuania in Ankara, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ankara, the Embassy of Sweden in Ankara and the Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul are united in the platform, supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Lithuanian Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme. Operating as a collaborative diplomatic network, the platform serves as an institutional bridge for cross-regional climate dialogue and technology transfer.
A catalyst on the road to COP31
With Türkiye hosting COP31 in 2026, the platform acts as a technical and diplomatic catalyst for the summit’s preparations. Through policy alignment workshops and high-level flagship forums, it channels Nordic-Baltic regional leadership into the COP31 agenda, with the aim of translating climate commitments into concrete outputs and joint project pipelines that extend toward 2030.
Five priority areas
The platform connects Turkish public institutions, municipalities, industries and academia with leading Nordic-Baltic solution providers across five key verticals:
- Energy efficiency: Nordic–Baltic countries are global frontrunners in energy efficiency and low-carbon power systems.
- Circular economy: A shared strategic priority across the Nordic–Baltic region.
- Green and resilient cities: Climate-smart infrastructure, nature-based solutions and inclusive urban planning.
- Water management: Water resilience and sustainable water management are central to Nordic–Baltic climate solutions.
- Sustainable transportation: A major pillar of Nordic–Baltic climate leadership.
What comes next
The platform’s calendar of workshops, forums, flagship events and digital sessions is published on the Events page, and its key projects and outputs for 2026–2027 are listed on the Projects page.
